Warning and safety notice for MT3 pro

Dear Customer,

Throughout its lifecycle each Renfert product is continually checked according to our strict quality control procedures and on the basis of market feedback. This has resulted in us issuing the following urgent warning and safety notice to you.

Subject: MT3 pro wet trimmer

(Item number 1809.0000, 1809.0500, 1809.1000 or 1809.1500)

The film coating of the ON/OFF switch of the MT3 pro (soft touch switch on the top right-hand side of the housing, see illustration) has in isolated cases (i.e. less than 1%) demonstrated a serious flaw that compromises its electrical safety during operation.

In the above cases damage to this film meant that protection from moisture was no longer 100% guaranteed. This may be caused by excessive application of force during operation, material fatigue or brittleness and over time this could also affect your unit.

The damage is clearly recognisable because the film is no longer completely smooth and sealed to the surface and exhibits small bumps (blistering), dents (or indentations) or cracking. If the switch itself starts to respond sluggishly compared to when it was new this could be an early indication of the problem.

Should you notice any of the above changes to the film, for electrical safety reasons you must stop using the unit immediately (remove the plug from the mains) until the fault has been rectified. Failure to do so may lead to the risk of a life-threatening electric shock.

Please pass this information on to all persons who use the unit. If you have resold the unit or it is no longer in your possession, please advise us urgently of its whereabouts so that we can notify the respective user.

We also recommend that during your regular equipment electrical safety checks you pay particular attention to this point.
